Wendy (Cook) Hogg

Wendy (Cook) Hogg - 1976 Olympic Bronze Medalist - Swimming

Wendy is currently the principal of Pinewood School in Cranbrook. Wendy started breaking swimming records at age 10 and joined the national swim team at age 14. She was a member of the Canadian Dolphins Swim Club and was coached by Hall of Famer, Howard Firby, Derek Snelling, Jack Kelso, and later by husband, Doug Hogg.

She placed 5th in the 100m backstroke at the 1972 Munich Olympics and was ranked 2nd overall in world for 100m backstroke in 1972.

While winning 3 gold (100m & 200m backstroke, and 400m medley relay) at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games, she set a world record in the 100m backstroke during the 400m medley relay.   Winner of 2 gold (100m & 200m backstroke) and 3 silver (400m & 800m medley relays, 400m freestyle relay) at the 1st New Zealand Games, 1975.

At the 1976 Montreal Olympics Wendy won bronze in the 400m medley relay.  Wendy held numerous national titles and was named 1974 Canadian Athlete of the Year.
