Cranbrook, BC (February 7, 2011)
– Cranbrook Mayor Scott Manjak presented the Cranbrook Farmer’s Market Society with the 2010 Community Builder Award Monday night.

The award, created in 2009, is intended to publicly acknowledge an individual, group, Club, Agency or Society that has contributed to the social, cultural and/or spirit of the Cranbrook Community.   Debbie Sinclair of Big Brothers, Big Sisters was the recipient of the 2009 Community Builder Award.

“On behalf of Council, I want to congratulate the Cranbrook Farmer’s Market Society,” said Manjak.  “The creation and ongoing success of the Farmer’s Market has truly added to our overall community spirit.”

The Cranbrook Farmer’s Market hosts a collection of knowledgeable farmers and vendors who offer a variety of vegetables, fruits, jams, jellies, relishes, honey, herbs, cut flowers, meats, baked goods and bread, crafted products, handcrafted jewelry, original art and books, handmade soaps, bedding plants and many other items, according to the Society’s website.

The Cranbrook Farmer’s Market is set to launch into its third season later this spring.  Visit www.cranbrookfarmersmarket.com for more information.
