Fire Department Statistics

Emergency service calls to the Fire & Emergency Department have increased greatly since 1991, when 289 emergency calls were recorded.  By 2001, service calls had increased to 1184, as shown in the table below:

In respect of non-emergency work, 1500 students & adults were provided fire safety and prevention education and 1161 fire safety inspections were completed in 2001.


Besides fighting fires and responding to calls, the Fire & Emergency Department devotes many hours to running an efficient and competent department. The following is a breakdown of the hours devoted in 2001 to complete all of the Department’s functions:
